Senior Cargo Operator


Job purpose: 


Execute and control all purchase and sale transactions performed by trading. Ensure that all physical and administrative tasks are fulfilled in a timely and correct manner.


Main responsibilities:


  • Issue and verify incoming and outgoing contracts and related amendments.
  • Nominate inspectors, ship agents and superintendents, constant follow up /obtaining quality, details, etc.
  • Keeping trading fully updated and advised regarding any operation.
  • Issuing documentary instructions and double checking in line with LC desk /Contract etc.
  • Obtaining Inspection reports and maintaining loss control database.
  • Instruct both spot and time-chartered vessels to load, proceed and discharge and coordinate same with all parties involved (suppliers, receivers, counterparties).
  • Issue and verify incoming and outgoing invoices and ensure timely payment and receipt of funds.
  • Verify and ensure that relevant Energy Risk Trading Management System (NOVA) is correctly and timely updated.
  • Ensure that all transactions and related administrative tasks are performed smoothly and in time.
  • To reconciliate the stocks on monthly basis.
  • To proceed with ITT and truck loading.
  • Coordinate operations with fellow operators and affiliates.
  • To be able to backup colleagues during holidays.
  • To be proactive in problem spotting and alerting Operations Manager and trading asap.
  • Perform operations in accordance with Procedures and Guidelines.
  • Ensuring contractual obligations are met.


Experience & education required:


  • HES Degree in Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Law, Logistics, or maritime school.
  • Min. 5 years of proven experience of oil trading operations, ship operations and related logistics (maritime transport, shipping or related businesses)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.


Technical Skills:


  • General knowledge of supply chain operations especially on Marine (shipping), chartering and Incoterms.
  • Ability to prioritize from several potentially conflicting tasks while keeping a cool head is essential to success in dealings with both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially MS Excel

  • Work to deadlines in a lively, fast-moving, frequently changing environment where numeracy, attention to detail, proven team working, and communication skills are important.
  • Great organisation skills, flexibility and able to work within international environment.
  • Precise and rigorous.
